SalzburgerLand Tourismus Ges.m.b.H.
SalzburgerLand Tourismus Ges.m.b.H. The province of Salzburg is home to more than 80 ski areas including more than 30 that are well known international centres, an even larger umber of ski areas including some in neighbouring provinces, are most easily reached by flying in to Salzburg airport from which there are excellent road and rail links. Many of these resorts are all available on a single lift ticket, The Salzburger Skicard (also known as the Salzburger Superski Card) which has the widest coverage of any ski pass so far invented with 23 ski regions covered close to the German border, and even the Allrounder Winter world indoor ski hall in Germany. Altogether the pass covers almost 90 resorts, offering over 700 lifts, with a combined uplift of just under 1 million skiers per hour, serving more than 2,200km of runs spread over 970 trails. However unlike the Italian Dolomiti Superski Card, still popularly regarded as the world's largest lift pass, it is not available for one day or short durations. Minimum duration of the Salzburger Super Ski Card is 3 days, up to a maximum of 12 days in succession. A Swatch Access Card or similar data storage device is required to electronically charge the ticket. But for those living near the area an 'Any 10 days' version is available which can be used any day during the season (mid November to early May). Famous Salzburg regions that are included in the pass (and also have area passes for their own local regions as well) include the Kitzsteinhorm glacier ski resort of Kaprun and its neighbour Zell am See, as well as high altitude Obertauern which was the scene of filming for the Beatles movie Help back in 1965. Other famous Salzburg region resorts include Bad Gastein, Bad Hofgastein which are all part of another giant Austrian regional ski pass, Amade. Most of the resorts on the Ski Amadé pass are in Salzburgerland, including Herman Maier's home region of Flachau which runs the world's most six-seater chairs. |
